About Troy Walcott
Born in Brooklyn NY I am a first generation American with roots based in Barbados where both of my parents are from. Their personal deep commitment to family values were instilled in me from a very early age. Those values helped give me the work ethic and the desire to promote that same ideology and develop the need to pass it on to others. I always had a yearning to be self dependent and began working as early as my freshman year in high school as part of a program designed for teens to help with future job growth.
After being accepted to John Jay College to begin my journey to study law; one of the hardest things I had to do was tell my parents that path wouldn't be the one that I felt would make my life feel complete. Surprisingly even though very shy my first full time job was in door to door sales. Truly a huge step outside of my comfort zone. I saw it as a great opportunity to push myself into an uncomfortable situation that I would otherwise never go into. My thirst for financial independence left me searching for opportunities and the knowledge it would take for me to help others on a large scale. I saw real estate as a great option to move toward that goal. I knew I would need many additional resources to help me going forward. In order to accomplish that I knew I would need a more steady source of income to work with. So after putting an end to my career in sales I went to work in the telecommunications industry. While working that 9 to 5 I was continuously searching for ways to get into real estate. Like so many others trying to find their way when it came to real estate I went through the seminar circuit. I listened to Guru after Guru present their sure fire path to riches in real estate. Analyzing each strategy to the point of paralysis I found myself becoming stagnant. It wasn't stagnation from failure of implementing the techniques I had learned but from never actually trying to put any of the knowledge I had gained into action. Nevertheless I kept moving on looking for the answer that could finally put my passion into action. |

One of the programs I finally decided to delve into suggested that I go to my local REIA as a part of the process. That would turn out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I listened to the speaker for the event that first night of attending that REIA meeting Ms. Teresa R Martin. I was blown away not only by the information being provided but also by the feeling of empowerment she brought to the entire room. I would later learn that she was not just that night's speaker she was also the head of the NYC chapter of the REIA. Joining this REIA chapter dramatically improved my skill set giving me access to numerous other business professionals in the real estate investment field. I now had the ability to constantly network with other professionals in my field to build business opportunities for my investment portfolio as well as theirs. This all from an organization headed by someone who is extremely successful in exactly what I wanted to do. Not only that, someone who I felt has the same goals in mind that I do; to help others.
